British Prime Minister Theresa May has fired one of her closest allies over what he knew about pornography found on a parliament computer.

Damian Green was "asked to resign" for breaching the ministerial code after an investigation concluded he made misleading statements about the investigation in 2008.  The 61-year old maintains he did not use pornography on his office computers, but he agreed he had not been forthcoming in statements made about the matter in November.

"I accept that I should have been clear in my press statements that police lawyers talked to my lawyers in 2008 about the pornography on the computers, and that the police raised it with me in a subsequent phone call in 2013," Green wrote in his resignation, which was released to the public.

Green was also investigated for inappropriate behavior towards a female journalist and Tory party activist, a claim he denied.  He was ousted as first secretary of state, and was effectively Ms. May's deputy PM, and closest associate.  Green is also the third member of the cabinet to resign in two months, following Michael Fallon and Priti Patel who exited in November.
