Human Rights Watch (HRW) says the Hamas government of Gaza has totally failed to investigate the murders of seven Palestinians who were accused of collaborating with Israel.

It happened last November, during a conflict between Hamas and Israel.  The men were convicted by a “military court” of Gaza, shot to death, and the body of at least one man was dragged through the streets by motorcycleHRW says these convictions may have been based on evidence extracted through torture.

"Even before the killings, the abuses the men suffered made the criminal justice system a travesty, regardless of their guilt or innocence," said HRW’s Sarah Leah Whitson.

“Months after seven Palestinians were murdered in broad daylight, seemingly with the collusion of security officials, the Hamas authorities in Gaza appear not to have lifted a finger to investigate, let alone to hold those responsible to account.”

Hamas is denying the allegations, and says the investigation “will continue for another month,” and that several informers had turned themselves in since amnesty was offered last month.
