The US Military has return control of Bagram Prison to the Afghanistan government.  It clears away a major issue that was causing a lot of friction between the Hamid Karzai regime and the country propping it up.

This follows an unannounced visit to Kabul by US Secretary of State John Kerry, and a joint news conference at Hamid Karzai’s palace.  Kerry declared the US and Afghanistan are “on the same page”.

Karzai’s erratic statements drove US-Afghan ties to a low point two weeks ago when he accused the Americans of colluding with the terrorists to carry out attacks, and therefore make the US presence seem “necessary”.  That prompted some American lawmakers to threaten to cut off aid to Afghanistan.

A transfer ceremony has already taken place.
