Outrage in Argentina after a court forced an eleven-year old girl to undergo a C-section instead of granting her permission for an abortion.  The child was impregnated by her custodial grandmother's partner, and she did not want to bring the pregnancy to term.  Amnesty International said the girl met both the criteria for a legal abortion in the heavily Roman Catholic country, since she was raped and the pregnancy threatened her health.  But the court in northern Tucumen province and area doctors dragged their feet, and her human and reproductive rights were denied:  "This is a disgusting abuse of power by provincial health authorities that has profoundly endangered an 11-year-old girl's life and health and forced her to continue a pregnancy against her wishes," said Margaret Wurth, senior children's rights researcher at Human Rights Watch.  Argentina's National Campaign For The Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion said that "forcing girls to go through a pregnancy and give birth is torture".
