Good Morning Australia!! - Trump is trying to force the US down a darker path - A former Perth student is guilty the axe murders of his family - Going the wrong way around the Sun? - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

The orange clown Donald Trump called two top US law enforcers - Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray - to the White House to "demand" that they investigate his largely imagined conspiracy theory that federal authorities planted a mole in his 2016 presidential campaign.  And like good little toadies, they will expand the investigation into Russian influence on the 2016 campaign to include the clown's ramblings.

Make no mistake, this is a constitutional crisis in the one time "shining city on the hill" as a syphilitic dimwit with no regard for the US Constitution or the rule of law tries to assume dictatorial powers by forcing federal authorities to do his political bidding.  Makes you wonder why any other "free" country would follow these yahoos.  Federal authorities have denied embedding a mole in Trump's campaign, and Trump's people think his microwave oven is spying on him.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo threatened Iran with "strongest sanctions in history" that will keep Tehran "battling to keep its economy alive".  Although the blowhard Trump Administration has repeatedly caved in on threats in the past, it suggests that the White House will have little will to grant exemptions to companies that reached deals with Iran under the landmark 2015 multi-national nuclear deal that lifted economic sanctions in return for Tehran ending its nuclear program.  Potential big losers include French energy giant Total, which reached oil deals with Iran; Airbus and Boeing; and Norway's Saga Energy which was to build solar power plants in sun-drenched Iran.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro won his reelection bid.  The conservative opposition didn't bother to take part, and then whinged about the outcome.

A South African court found the son of a wealthy farming family guilty of the 2015 axe murders of his mother, father, and brother, as well as grievously injuring his sister, and attempting to cover-up the evidence.  "After considering all the evidence, the result is inescapable," Judge Siraj Desai told 23-year old Henri van Breda, who was denied bail and will be held in jail until his sentencing.  The van Breda family had moved to Perth to escape South Africa's violent crime, and Henri went to school there.  But the moved back to South Africa a number of years ago - only to find violent crime living in their own mansion.

Two more climbers died trying to ascend Mount Everest:  Sherpa guides found 35-year old Japanese mountaineer Nobukazu Kuriki dead in his tent on Monday morning, after he posted on social media: "I feel the pain and difficulty of this mountain."  Kuriki had lost nine digits to severe frostbite in a previous climb in 2012.  Meanwhile, 63-year-old Gjeorgi Petkov of Macedonia is believed to have died of cardiac arrest on Sunday.  Both bodies were removed to Kathmandu for autopsies.

Health authorities in Iran are warning people not to buy or eat wild mushrooms after at least 15 people have died and more than 1,000 have been poisoned in recent weeks.  Doctors had to perform urgent liver transplants on three patients.  Mushroom picking and picnicking are popular in Iran's western mountains during the springtime.

China has launched a relay satellite to establish a near-continuous communications link between earth and the Moon for a lunar rover mission planned for later in the year.  Chang'e 4, named for the Chinese Lunar Goddess, will explore a previously untouched part of the Moon.  China plans a manned mission to the Moon within 15 years.

A bombshell scientific paper says an asteroid orbiting the Sun in the opposite direction as everything else is from another solar system.  Standard planetary formation theories don't explain why Asteroid 2015 BZ509 orbits the Sun going the wrong way (or maybe the right way in that universe where Spock has a goatee?).  But to these researchers, it appears to have been flung in our direction from another solar system and got caught up in the Sun's gravity around Jupiter.

The great Vermont US Senator and 2016 US Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders announced he is running for reelection.  The 76-year old says more work to be done on necessary reforms such as a US$15 minimum wage, a single payer health care program, and free college tuition.  "Our struggle to create a government which represents all of us and not just the one percent - a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial, and environmental justice - must continue," Bernie said, "And that is why I'm running for reelection."  His campaign plans to hold a series of kickoff rallies in June.

German authorities have reportedly stopped ten families at the airports for pulling their kids out of school too early so they can beat the summer crowds on holiday.  "It would have been disproportionate to take the children back to school, as the families had paid for their holidays," explained a police spokesman, so they were allowed to fly on.  But the families face fines of up to around AU$1,500, because in Germany parents are legally obliged to send their children to school.
