A clearer picture emerges of the injured two British teens suffered in an acid attack in Zanzibar – Egypt apparently is prepared to disperse supporters of the former president from their sit-in – And a powerful Typhoon hits the Philippines.

Zanzibar police are questioning five men in the acid attack on two British teens.  In addition, a hate preacher whose anti-western rhetoric might have inspired the attack is being held under guard.  The 18-year old victims, Kirstie Trup and Katie Gee, are being treated in hospital in London.  Marc Trup, father of Kirstie, says they ware devastated by the injuries, which are likely to leave long-term physical and emotional scars.  Doctors say skin grafts might be necessary.

Egyptian authorities are preparing to disperse thousands of pro-Morsi protesters from their encampments in Cairo.  The interim government has said for more than a week now that the sit-in will not be tolerated.  The demonstrators oppose the military action that deposed president Mohammed Morsi, which came at the behest of millions of Morsi’s political opponents. 

An American Christian missionary imprisoned in North Korea has been moved from a labor camp to hospital.  Kenneth Bae had been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for somehow trying to “overthrow” the Pyongyang government.  He’s been suffering from health problems and lost 23 kilos during his ordeal.  In an interview with CNN last month, he appeared gaunt and weak.

It was sex abuse complaints lodged by three Australian women that led British police to rearrest Rolf Harris last week.  He’s free on bail to reappear later this month.  He’d already been arrested once in the Operation Yewtee investigation after a British woman claimed she’d been sexually abuse by Harris when she was a teenager.  The veteran entertainer says he’ll fight the allegations.  Meanwhile, Rolf’s been sacked as host of the “Animal Clinic” show, replaced by Ben Fogle.

23 Fishermen are missing as powerful Typhoon Utor swept Luzon in the Northern Philippines.  The men failed to return to port after the storm toppled power lines with wind speeds up to 109 miles an hour and drenched mountains, plains, and cities with rain.  Utor moved out into the South China Sea towards Guangdong in China, and is expected to make landfall there on Wednesday.

Panama has finished an incredibly thorough search of that North Korean cargo ship that was found to have been carrying Cuban missiles and a MiG to the Hermit Kingdom in Asia.  Cuba claims it was not violating the international arms embargo on North Korea, and the weaponry was only supposed to be repaired and shipped back. But some of the containers were loaded with undeclared live munitions, and United Nations experts will be in Panama in the coming days to prepare a report on whether the shipment violated sanctions.

South African President Jacob Zuma says Nelson Mandela is still making “slow but steady improvement”.  The 95-year old father of modern South Africa has been in critical condition in hospital for two months with a lung infection.
