Hello Australia!! - Rockets interrupt the peace along the Gaza border - Bolsonaro gets the hint - The Brexit turns into political poison for Theresa May's party - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

Israel's Iron Dome defense system handily intercepted most of the hundred or so incoming projectiles launched from the Gaza Strip, although at least one that got through did damage a home in one of the Israeli communities near Gaza.   Three Israelis were wounded by the rockets.  Israel responded with tank and air strikes, killing at least three Palestinians - including a mother and her baby daughter, according to Gaza officials.  The violence breaks a tenuous ceasefire along the restive border.

North Korea has tested several short-range missiles in what appears to be a message to the US and Donald Trump about the breakdown of diplomatic rapprochement between the two countries.  Pyongyang appears to be growing impatient with Washington's insistence that full international economic sanctions remain in force until North Korea takes larger steps to dismantle its nuclear weapons program.  Trump played down the matter, tweeting his belief that the North Korean leader would not do anything that could jeopardize his country's path towards better relations.

Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro has cancelled a trip to New York after protests from gay rights and environmental campaigners.  He was supposed to get an award from the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce, but the chosen venue - American Museum of Natural History - kicked out this month's planned gala over Bolsonaro's nauseating history of homophobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, and religiously intolerant statements.  No other venue would step up, and most of the major sponsored pulled out as well.  Even New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said Bolsonaro was a "very dangerous human being".

There are concerns a Boeing 737 that skidded off of the runway at the US Naval Air Station Jacksonville in northern Florida could pollute the St. John's River into which it came to rest.  None of the 143 passengers or crew were killed in Friday night's accident, which reportedly occurred in bad weather - but some pets in the cargo hold reportedly did not survive.  The flight data recorder is in the hands of investigators, but the cockpit voice recorder is still underwater.  This flight came from the US military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and was operated by Miami Air, a US charter airline that handles a number of Department of Defense flights as well as transport for several NFL teams.  The conditions of this accident seemed to be unrelated to the crashes of the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines Boeing involving newer 737 Max 8 jets.

Britain's Tories got destroyed in local elections over its thoroughly incompetent handling of the Brexit, earning the party's worst showing since 1995 and a harbinger of what the Conservatives can expect if a General Election is called.  Conservatives lost 1,334 councillors in Thursday's votes, Labour lost 82 seats, and the Brexit hardline UKIP lost seats as well.  Shockingly, the party profiting from the Tory meltdown was the Liberal Democrats, picking up more than half of the gains.  Why?  The Lib-Dems campaigned on holding a second Brexit referendum to give UK citizens the final approval of the terms of leaving the European Union or the power to call off the whole thing.  The Greens and independents also made gains.
