Scandal takes a big bite out of the credibility of the new French Government;  A European Royal is named as a “suspect” in a corruption case;  Two news viruses to be scared of;  And The Stones are Rolling out their summer plans.

French President François Hollande is denying he helped cover-up his former tax minister Jérôme Cahuzac’s secret foreign bank account.  Before government, Cahuzac got rich as a cosmetic surgeon performing hair transplants on the rich and famous, and plunged the government into crisis with his admission he had squirreled away €600,000 from le percepteur de la taxe.

A Spanish Judge has named Princess Cristina as a “suspect” in a corruption case.  Cristina’s husband and his business partner are suspected of siphoning off funds that were supposed to go to staging regional sports events.  The judge says the 47-year old daughter of King Juan Carlos knew about the scheme, based on subpoenaed emails.

China found two more patients infected with the new form of Bird Flu, and one of them died.  That means three people are dead from the H7N9 form of Bird Flu, out of nine known infections.  The dead man is a 28-year-old cook from Hangzou City.  Vietnam immediately banned Chinese poultry upon learning the news.  The World Health Organization (WHO) is watching the situation closely.

Scientists are learning more about the SARS-like virus that killed 11 of 17 patients in the Middle East and Britain.  The mysterious Coronavirus “hCoV-EMC/2012” does its damage deep in the lungs and inhibit their ability to take up oxygen.  So far, it only seems to have effected a group of people on the Arabian Peninsula and people who carried it from their to Britain.

Three of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical corporations are bidding for Brazil’s Ache Laboratorios Farmaceuticos group. Pfizer, Novartis, and Abbott are probably not alone in wishing to get a footprint in the growing Latin American prescription drug market.  But, GlaxoSmithKline did drop out of the bidding.

Russia sure is selling a lot of weapons.  President Vladimir Putin said exports rose 12 percent in 2012 to a record $15.2 Billion.  This is despite the fall of one of Russia’s biggest clients, Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi.

The Rolling Stones added concert dates to the venerable band’s summer schedule.  In addition to making their debut at Glasto, the Stones will play in Hyde Park for the first time in 40 years, plus nine dates in the US.
