Online retailing giant Amazon has begun advertising warehouse job vacancies in Dandenong South, suggesting the company's first Australian retail operations will be in the outer southeast suburbs of Melbourne.

The company advertised for a site safety manager, referring to the Dandenong South location specifically as a "fulfilment centre".  That's the term Amazon uses for its retail operations facilities.  Amazon is also looking for as many as seven "front-line supervisors", with job descriptions including "lifting and moving material up to 16 kilos each" and "standing and walking for up to 10-12 hours a day".

Amazon is also seeking a loss prevention manager (security), a studio manager (product photography), a public relations manager, and area managers (front-line supervisors) for the Dandenong location.
