Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is demanding that PM Malcolm Turnbull intervene after Nauru banned her from visiting refugees and asylum seekers in the Australian detention camp there.

"What are the Australian and Nauru governments so desperate to hide?" Senator Hanson-Young asked.  "Australians deserve to know what is being done in their name on Nauru," she added.  The senator suspects the rejection is revenge for the role she played in 2013 in exposing rape, sexual exploitation of minors, and guards trading drugs for sexual favors from female inmates.  She wanted to return to Nauru to check in with refugees who've settled in to the community and visit those still in the detention center.

Earlier, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton launched a personal attack on Ms. Hanson-Young.  Speaking on 2GB radio, Mr. Dutton said, "What Sarah Hanson-Young is about is publicity."  He added, "She loves the camera and she loves to see her own name in the paper."

Senator Hanson-Young responded, "Peter Dutton can attack and insult me as much as he likes, but nothing will change the fact that my work has revealed systemic child abuse and the rape of young women on Nauru under his watch."
