American attorney Michael Avenatti, who represents an adult actress who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump, is denying allegations of domestic abuse after being arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Mr. Avenatti took to Twitter to declare, "I will not be intimidated into stopping my pursuit of justice and what is right."

He became a major thorn in the side of Donald Trump by representing Stormy Daniels, who said she was paid off to stay silent about the affair which is denied by Trump.  Earlier this year, rogue police in Ohio attempted to set-up Ms. Daniels on phony misdemeanor charges related to her appearance at a local strip club; prosecutors quickly dropped those charges.

This time around, the LAPD arrested Avenatti on the same city block where he lives in a skyscraper apartment.  Authorities are not releasing any information on the alleged accuser or the accuser's relationship with Avenatti; but a spokesman did claim the complaintant had visible injuries.

"I have never struck a woman.  I will never strike a woman," Avenatti told reporters after posting US$50,000 bail, adding that he is and would continue to be an "advocate" for women's rights.  He called the allegation against him "completely bogus".

Avenatti's law firm later released a more detailed statement.

"I wish to thank the hard working men and women of the LAPD for their professionalism, they were only doing their jobs in light of the completely bogus allegations against me.  I have never been physically abusive in my life nor was I last night," the statement reads.  "Any accusations to the contrary are fabricated and meant to do harm to my reputation.  I look forward to being fully exonerated."

Avenatti's ex-wife, Christine Avenatti-Carlin, also issued a statement of support, calling Avenatti as a "good man" who "has never been abusive to me or anyone else."
