Donald Trump received a thundering chorus of boos when he showed up at Game 5 of the Major League Baseball World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.

Trump, Melania, and a posse of loyalist Republican lawmakers showed up after the first inning and the game as already underway.  After the third inning, the stadium television screen showed a salute to US Military veterans, eliciting cheers.

But when the picture changed to show Trump and his party in one of the expensive skyboxes, and the crowd exploded with cacophonous booing that rang across the stadium.

As the next inning began, fans chanted "lock him up" - taking the chant that Trump supporters directed at Hillary Clinton at his campaign rallies in 2016 and beyond, and turning it against Trump as the US House pushes towards impeaching him for abuse of power and other crimes.

Every president since William Taft in 1910 has thrown out a ceremonial first pitch during their time in office, either for Opening Day, the All-Star Game or the World Series.  However, the White House said Trump would not be doing that; instead, the Nats called celebrity chef Jose Andres who has had several public feuds with Trump.
