The principal of a middle school in India where 23 children were poisoned to death by a free school munch has turned herself in authorities.

Police had been searching for Meena Kumari since fleeing the school and going underground last week, she was possibly the most wanted person in all of India.  They believe Kumari can help explain how the deadly insecticide monocrotophos ended up in the free midday meal.

Forensic tests have since confirmed that the cooking oil used to prepare the meal was contaminated with pesticide.  Cops believe that the principal purchased the cooking oil from a store owned by her husband, who might have stored the cooking oil in a container once filled with pesticide.

The only other adult at the school was the school’s cook who fell deathly ill because he also had some of the rice, beans, potato curry and soy balls prepared with the contaminated oil.
