An Aussie toddler is one of two children diagnosed with or suspected of contracting Measles in New Zealand's Northland district.

The 14-month old Australian boy and an 11-year-old from Auckland both were taken to the Bay of Islands Hospital over the weekend.

"I think people might have forgotten just how serious measles is," said NZ Medical officer Virginia McLaughlin.  "We need to remember that this is a highly infectious and really severe infection," she added, "People can die from measles.  People can get very severe complications."

The older child attended a popular hot springs called Ngawha Springs Hot Pools on Easter Monday between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.  NZ's Public Health unit is trying to track down some 50 people who were there at the same time.

"It was only a matter of time before we saw measles in Northland given our low immunisation rate and with many families travelling over the school holidays the risk of being exposed to measles is far greater," said Dr. Laughlin. dubaiescortstars.com
