Queensland health authorities issued an alert after a person infected with measles visited a number of locations including a popular wildlife park.

These include the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a very popular tourist attraction.  The infected person was there on Sunday, 11 March; at Woolworth's in Marsden Fifth Avenue, Brisbane on Wednesday, 14 March; and at Logan Hospital on Wednesday, 14 March through Friday, 16 March.  People who were at those locations should confirm if they are immune to measles, which is spread extremely easily through sneezes or coughs.  That's why we get those wonderful vaccines.

"The initial symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore and red eyes," Queensland Health explained, "This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash.  The rash often starts on the face then becomes widespread over the body.

"Contact your GP or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for more information," the agency continued, "If you have any of the measles symptoms contact your GP and remember it is VERY important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid you spreading it to others."
