Syria’s two-year-old civil war may be about to get a lot more complicated with the potential entry of Hezbollah on the battlefield.

Like most conflicts in the Mideast, the partisans are drawn along religious lines.  The Syrian rebels are Sunni Muslims and are supported by the Sunni countries of the Muslim world.  President Bashar al-Assad is a Shiite Muslim, and has the backing of Iran and Hezbollah.

But now a video of an address by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has surfaced.  Nasrallah denies reports that Hezbollah has actively fought on behalf of the Assad government, but says that could change in the future.

This comes amid growing reports of the bodies of Hezbollah fighters among the war dead in Syria.
