With Silicon Valley struggles with accusations of rampant sexism, Google finds itself at the fiery epicenter of the controversy after a male senior software engineer pressed "send" on a ten-page screed against diversity in the workplace.

Google executives over the weekend rushed to denounce the memo, titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber" and written by a male software engineer whose identity for now remains unknown.  But I have a feeling this boy is going to be famous.

I was told there would be privilege

Instead of building gender diversity in the office, the voice of male privilege says the company instead should welcome "ideological diversity", and cynically writes off Silicon Valley's abysmal record towards hiring female engineers to the biological differences between the genders.

OMG it's so unfair!

The inflammatory memo also claimed that women tend to show more interest in people rather than things, while men drive themselves into leadership roles because they crave status.  He also accused women of being guilty of "neuroticism", and whinged that Google's "politically correct monoculture" discriminated against those poor, oppressed white males. https://petitsecret.ch

The document went viral within Google, and provided a load of material for the company's new Vice President of Diversity, Integrity, and Governance Danielle Brown, on the job only since June.

The document is "not a viewpoint that I or this company endorses, promotes or encourages", responded Ms. Brown.  "We are unequivocal in our belief that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as a company, and we'll continue to stand for that and be committed to it for the long haul," she writes.
