Companies are setting their technology priorities to meet the logistics challenges of the future.  The GEODIS 2017 supply chain worldwide survey found that the top five are all related to data management.

They are, in order:  Data analysis; The Internet of Things; Cloud computing; Information security; And predictive analytics.

"In the wake of globalization and rampant digitization, commercial trade flows have evolved dramatically," GEODIS said in a statement.  "Both the volume and the scope of services managed within supply chain have reached unprecedented levels."

The survey also found that 70 percent of the survey’s respondents say their supply chain is either very or extremely complex. They also emphasize the strategic position it has reached in their overall organization.  57 percent of firms consider their supply chain to be a competitive advantage.  Two-thirds of those responding said they dedicate between five and 15 percent of their turnover to supply chain expenditures.
