The AFP's joint counter-terrorism team arrested a 24-year old Bankstown man on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack.  It's the latest in a series of arrests related to alleged Islamist-extremist violence.

"A Bankstown man was arrested today by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) Sydney as part of the ongoing Operation Appleby investigation into the alleged planning of a terrorist attack in Australia," the Australian Federal Police said in a statement.  "It will be alleged in court the man was one of a number of people - who have been previously charged regarding this matter - involved in formulating documents connected with preparations to facilitate, assist or engage a person to undertake a terrorist act," it continued.

The ABC reported the man's name is Farhad Said, and that he will be charged with one count of conspiracy to conduct an act in preparation for a terrorist act.  Investigators reportedly believe that Mr. Said was involved in preparing documents for a planned attack on government buildings in Sydney including Garden Island.
