At least ten people are in hospital recovering from injuries after a tornado swept across northeast Victoria last night.  Scores more people were hurt but didn’t require hospitalization.

It happened just before 8:00 O’clock last night in the townships of Yarrawonga, Bundalong, Rutherglen, Koonoomoo and Mulwala with all the usual damage we can expect from twisters:  Damaged roofs, collapsed buildings, overturned caravans, and downed trees which are limiting access into tornado zone.

The Bureau of Meteorology says it’s likely there were several tornados at at the same time.

Even in areas not hit by tornados were whipped by strong winds:  Saint Kilda recorded gusts up to 100 Kilometers per hour.
