A woman has turned herself in to police in Shanghai, China. She’s wanted for questioning in Japan for the murder of a nurse from Osaka, whose body was then mailed 370 kilometers to Tokyo where it was found stashed in a storage unit.
The 29-year old Brazilian Japanese woman is believed to have stolen the victim Rika Okada’s identity, and obtained a passport in the victim’s name which she used to skip the country. Before that, she used Okada’s own credit card to mail the woman’s body to Tokyo in a container marked “doll”, which was stashed in the storage unit – also paid for by Okada’s card. The woman lived near the storage facility.
The woman and Okada were apparently once friends and taught at an elementary school. Just before she went missing, Okada wrote on her Facebook page that she was going to meet an old friend whom she had not seen for a decade.
