Good Morning Australia!! - Another piece, but no completed puzzle in the search for MH370 - An admitted member of Duterte's death squads speaks - Trump backs down to a sane, black, female cleric and then trash talks her behind her back - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:
A big chunk of debris that washed ashore in Tanzania is part of missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370. Aussie investigators say it's the inboard section of the right, outboard flap of the ill-fated Boeing 777. MH370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014 when it suddenly veered way off course into the Indian Ocean and disappeared with all 239 people on board including several Australians.
A confessed member of a Philippine death squad says that he witnessed current President Rodrigo Duterte murder a man with a blast from an Uzi machine gun some years ago when Duterte was the mayor of Davao. 57-year old Edgar Matobato told a Senate inquiry on extra-judicial killings that his job as a member of Duterte's "Davao Death Squad" was to "kill criminals like drug pushers, rapists, snatchers", and that 1,000 people died this way while Duterte was mayor. A Duterte spokesman denies the allegation, and yet almost three times that number have been murdered in vigilante and extra-judicial killings across the country in the few weeks since Duterte has been president.
Donald Trump, Jr. made a holocaust joke while on the campaign trail for his fascist demagogue father. Claiming that the corporate media is going light on Democratic Party rival Hillary Clinton (it isn't, and that's demonstrable), Junior said it republicans "were doing that, they'd be warming up the gas chamber right now." The Anti-Defamation League tweeted, "Trivialization of the Holocaust and gas chambers is NEVER okay," and, "We hope you understand the sensitivity and hurt of making Holocaust jokes. We hope you retract." He didn't. Earlier, Junior and his sister Ivanka walked out of softball interviews when questions about their dad's shady finances got too hot.
Trump himself demonstrated a new level of cowardice, when he went on Murdoch's Fox News to trash talk a black, female pastor who put him in his place a day earlier. Video shows Trump at a church in Flint, Michigan trying to attack Hillary Clinton, when Pastor Faith Green Timmons stopped him and reminded Trump he had been invited to address Flint's Water Crisis. A docile trump complied. But on Fox "News", the coward magically found some bass in his voice and claims Pastor Timmons was "a nervous mess" and suggested the confrontation was pre-planned. And of course, Timmons wasn't there to defend herself. You'll recall the chickenshyte Trump flew to Mexico to meet with the president, claimed the subject of his proposed border wall never came up, and flew back to Arizona to trash talk Mexico. There are Americans actually going to vote for this guy.
Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail on Thursday after taking a few days off to recover from pneumonia. Members of the corporate media suggested she'll have to "answer" for last weekend's comments that half of Trump's voters belong in a "basket of deplorable,"meaning the racists and bigots. Meanwhile, Trump supporters have sucker-punched a 69-year old woman on oxygen, punched protesters and people with signs, and allegedly burned a mosque.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says it is "unacceptable and outrageous" of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to claim that Palestinians want the "ethnic cleansing" of Jews in the West Bank ". Mr. Ban told the UN security Council on Thursday that Israel's resettling of 500,000 Jews in settlements in the Palestinian West Bank is "illegal under international law" and "is diametrically opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state." Israel's UN Ambassador said Ban had a "distorted view of the situation".
Syria withdrew its military from a key road in and out of Aleppo, after the UN flat-out accused Damascus of obstructing crucial aid deliveries to the besieged city. The UN has 40 trucks of food, water, first aid, and other supplies ready to distribute in the country, and it would likely prioritize delivery to rebel-held eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo. The US-Russian brokered cease-fire is apparently holding for another day.
