Good Morning Australia!! - Breaking this morning, a shooting in the heart of Paris is investigated as terrorism - North Korea is doing WHAT on its nuclear test site?!?! - Fetch the jug, Granny! Trump is having folks up to the White House! - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

At least one police officer and a suspected gunman have been shot dead on the Champs Elysees in Paris, next to the Arc d'Triomphe.  Two more officers were hurt.  "On the face of it, the officers were deliberately targeted," said interior ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet.  A terrorism investigation is underway, and this could weigh on this Sunday's Presidential election in which mainstream parties are trying to fight off the wave of nationalism that grabbed a foothold in parts of Europe.  France has seen 238 people killed in jihadist attacks since 2015.

New satellite imagery from North Korea's nuclear test site show increased activity, but it's not what you think:  Troops were playing games on at least three volleyball courts on the mountain, with a possible fourth near the command center.  Gone are the vehicles outside the the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site, and it appears that North Koreans are no longer pumping water out of the tunnels previously used to test weapons.  This comes after it turned out that the White House and the US Navy greatly exaggerated statements describing an "armada" battle group led by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson heading for the Korean peninsula, and the ships were thousands of miles away in the Indian Ocean at the time.  Which leads to the question:  Is the world being punked?  Is there any threat of war on the Korean peninsula, nuclear of otherwise?  Both sides maintain the idiocy teenage boy schoolyard fight rhetoric, with nothing to back it up.

The Trump White House finally went full-hillbilly on Wednesday night, with Trump inviting failed Alaskan governor Sarah Palin and her guests 1970s rock star Ted Nugent and 1990s rap-rocker Kid Rock for dinner and evening of conservative traditional family values.  Nugent is known for the songs "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Jailbait", the latter being about the abduction and rape of a 13-year old girl; he actually adopted a 17-year old girl to have sex with her, and got away with it.  He also famously admitted to dodging the Vietnam draft by crapping his pants at the draft board, although he later claimed to have dodged the draft using different methods.  Kid Rock became famous on his family values classic "Balls in Your Mouth".  Both Kid Rock and Ted Nugent wore incredibly stupid hats.

Nigerian police rounded up 53 people at a party and accused them of staging a Gay Wedding.  The party goers are denying this, and lawyers say their detention is illegal.  Homosexual acts are illegal in the socially conservative country which has a politically influential christian evangelical movement in the south and a Muslim majority in the north.

Russia's supreme court declared the Jehovah's Witnesses to be an "extremist group", putting the pacifist religion in the same category as Islamic terrorists and banning its activities in the country.  Wouldn't it have been easier to just not answer the door?  The JWs will appeal the ruling.  "We consider this decision an act of political repression that is impermissible in contemporary Russia," said the group's lawyer Viktor Zhenkov.  If that fails, Zhenkov said the Jehovah’s Witnesses will take its case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France.

Pakistan's supreme court ruled there is not enough evidence to remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office after he was named in the Panama Papers as one of the world leaders using off-shore shell corporations to hide his money from tax authorities.  The Panama Papers leaks in 2015 were billed as a major revelation into the shadowy world of off-the-books wealth and money transfers, but most nations have failed to act on the evidence and the shell corporation thing just rolls along.
