US Republicans are sort-of rallying around Attorney General Jeff Sessions after an unprecedented attack on the top US law enforcement official by the current occupant of the White House.  In an interview with the New York Times, Donald Trump said that if he knew that Sessions would recuse himself from the investigation into Russian influence over last year's presidential election, he would not have nominated the Alabama Senator for AG.  Trump also denigrated Sessions' number two at the Justice Department Rod Rosenstein (who hired the Russia special prosecutor) former FBI boss James Comey.  Several members of the House defended Sessions from the attack and maintained he should not step down.  CNN's Jake Tapper reported that several Senate Republican expressed disgust over Trump's comments, but wouldn't go on the record.  Sessions says he's not planning to quit over Trump's rebuke.

Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has added a broad range of Donald Trump's financial transactions to the probe of Russian influence over the 2016 Presidential Election.  This comes a day after Trump issued an odd, out-of-the-blue warning to Mueller to leave his family's business out of the probe.  Investigators are examining Russian purchases of apartments in Trump buildings, Trump's involvement in a New York development with Russian associates in SoHo, the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, and Trump's 2008 sale of a Florida mansion to a Russian oligarch.

Oh, BTW.. Trump just acquiesced to another item on Vladimir Putin's wish list by ending a US program to arm rebel groups opposed to President Bashar al-Assad, an ally to Putin's Russia.

The US has cracked down on a "dark web" marketplace for drugs, personal identification numbers for committing fraud, firearms, and other illicit doings.  People trying to find AlphaBay instead are getting a message from the US Justice Department announcing it's gone.  The site was believed to be ten times larger than the Silk Road, an earlier dark web version of Bartertown shut down in 2013.  The 25-year old alleged founder of AlphaBay, Alexandre Cazes, committing suicide in a Thai jail cell earlier this month after being arrested on a US warrant.

Former US Football and media star OJ Simpson will be paroled from prison after serving nine years on a robbery conviction.  Without a hint of irony, the 70-year old told he Nevada Parole Board he has led a "conflict-free life", apparently forgetting that time he was tried and somehow acquitted (despite all that DNA evidence) of ruthlessly slaughtering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1995.

Saudi Arabian cops arrested a prince after a video purporting to show him beating several people and madly cursing at others went viral.  State run TV said the arrest order for Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was to "issued to prohibit injustice, despotism, harassment and harm".
