After two serious shark attacks in less than 24 hours, authorities are warning people not to swim in or around Cid Harbour on Whitsunday Island in north Queensland.  A 46-year-old Tasmanian woman and a 12-year-old girl are in hospital in a stable and a critical condition, respectively, after being mauled by sharks a day apart.  "These events are shocking, but it is quite rare to have multiple attacks in one area," said Fisheries Queensland shark control program manager Jeff Krause to the ABC, "It is very unusual in such a short period of time - it's just unprecedented."  Mr. Krause also says it's possible two different sharks were involved in the attacks; other officials suspect it could be the same shark.

Hundreds of passengers are missing from a ferry that capsized on Lake Victoria in northern Tanzania.  The MV Nyerere ferry, operated by Tanzania's Electrical, Mechanical and Services Agency (TEMESA), was designed for 100 passengers; but sources indicated that it was overloaded with at least 400 people plus cargo.  Rescuers pulled 42 bodies from the water, and reports of the survivors are all over the place, from 15 to 32.  Recovery efforts will resume when the sun rises in Tanzania.

A French court is ordering far-right leader Marine Le Pen to undergo psychiatric tests over her sharing of gruesome images showing atrocities committed by the so-called Islamic State.  "It's crazy," Le Pen responded on social media, "This regime is really starting to be frightening."  But prosecutors say this is standard operating procedure; the judge wants the tests to determine if she suffers mental illness or is "capable of understanding remarks and answering questions".  Authorities charged her under laws that forbid sharing "violent messages that incite terrorism or pornography or seriously harm human dignity" that can be viewed by a minor.  And Le Pen's pics were horrific, showing IS running over people with tanks or setting them on fire, as well as beheadings.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is lifting Russia's three-year suspension which prompted by Moscow's alleged state-sponsored doping in athletics.  WADA says Russia will be "subject to strict conditions" including having to provide quick access to its own labs and samples from athletes.  The Kremlin has denied the allegations.  But the lawyer for Russian whistleblower Grigory Rodchenkov says WADA's move is "the greatest treachery against clean athletes in Olympic history", and:  "The United States is wasting its money by continuing to fund Wada, which is obviously impotent to address Russia's state-sponsored doping," said attorney Jim Walden.

The shooter killed three people and injured three more at a pharmaceuticals warehouse in Maryland, north of Washington, DC.  But what makes this stand out in America's hundreds of mass shootings this year is that the perpetrator was a 26-year old woman, while most US mass shootings are carried out by men.  Cops got to the scene of the massacre within five minutes, and found the shooter with a self inflicted head wound; she later died in hospital.

A Jet Airways flight crew has been pulled from duty after they "forgot" to turn on the cabin pressure switch on a flight from from Mumbai to Jaipur in India.  Almost immediately after take off, people had difficulty breathing, experienced ear pain, and started bleeding from the nose.  But not so much that they couldn't take pictures and get the incident trending on social media.  The oxygen masks dropped down, but passengers complain there was no one to help them put them on or show them how they worked.

And don't forget to play this song all day!
