Australian Federal Police arrested a Sydney man for acting as a sales agent of North Korea missile parts and technology.  "This man was a loyal agent of North Korea, who believed he was acting to serve some higher patriotic purpose," said AFP assistant commissioner Neil Gaughan, "This case is like nothing we have ever seen on Australian soil."  Authorities say the man - identified as 59-year old Chan Han Choi by media sources - had breached both the United Nations and Australian sanctions by brokering the sale of coal, missile components, and guidance software to third parties in Indonesia and Vietnam.  Such as sale would have netted tens of millions of dollars for Pyongyang, which is cash-strapped under a new round of international sanctions over its nuclear program.

Melbourne Deputy Lord Mayor Arron Wood is stepping into the top job after Lord Mayor Robert Doyle stood aside to be investigated for alleged sexual harassment.  It comes from allegations from former Councillor Tessa Sullivan - a member of the Team Doyle ticket in the 2016 election - who complained Doyle touched her breast on one occasion, and made lewd references to oral sex on another.  Doyle issued a denial on Sunday.

The UN Security Council on Monday will consider a draft resolution calling in the US to rescind Donald Trump's declaration recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  As a permanent member of the council, it's likely the US will use its veto power to make the resolution go away.  However, it underscores how practically every other nation on earth views Trump's move as an unnecessary provocation and believes the status of Jerusalem should be the last thing decided in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.  Meanwhile, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan is upping the ante, saying he aims to open an embassy to the Palestinians in East Jerusalem.  Palestinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state, and Israel views all of Jerusalem as its traditional capital.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called his employee in the White House to thank the US CIA for a tip that helped Russia foil an alleged terrorist plot in St. Petersburg.  After arresting several suspects in the alleged Islamic State cell in the city, Putin told Trump his police will share any intelligence with the US.

US Democrats are sounding the alarm over rumors that Donald Trump may attempt to fire special prosecutor Robert Mueller this week - possibly just before Christmas.  Mueller is investigating Russian influence over the 2016 presidential election and the Trump transition team and administration's possible obstruction of that probe.  The orange clown's legal team has been piling on the criticism of Mueller's probe in recent days, including claiming that Mueller's team unlawfully obtained tens of thousands of transition team emails, to which the Mueller team responded: "We have secured either the account owner’s consent or appropriate criminal process."

California Governor Jerry Brown says the massive wildfires devastating parts of his state are the result of climate change.  Of California's 20 largest wildfires since 1932, 14 of them have occurred since the year 2000, including the five largest.  The Thomas Fire is the third largest, raging for 14 days as it crept up the coast from Ventura County north of Los Angeles to threaten Santa Barbara for a second time.  It is bearing down on as many as 18,000 structures, including the homes of many of Hollywood's rich and famous and other members of the top one percent.  Full containment is not expected until January.
