Good Morning Australia!! - What will Barnaby Joyce do this week as the walls close in? - Rescuers can't reach the scene of a commuter plane crash - Adults should learn from the amazing backbone shown by US kids after the latest school massacre - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

There are fears for the 65 passengers and crew aboard an Iranian passenger plane that crashed in the Zagros Mountains.  The ATR-72 twin turboprop operated by Aseman Airlines disappeared from radar screens about 50 minutes into its flight from Tehran to the southern city of Yasuj.  It went down in blizzard conditions, and rescuers have yet to get to the scene.  "Given the special circumstances of the region, we still have no access to the spot of the crash and therefore we cannot accurately and definitely confirm the death of all passengers of this plane," said Aseman spokesman Mohammad Tabatabaie.  Earlier reports said 66 people were on board, but Tehran later clarified that one passenger didn't make the flight.

Almost two-thirds of those responding to The Australian's latest Newspoll want Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce to stand down, last week's soap opera drama about his relationship with a former staffer who is having his child.  Joyce is on a week's leave this week, while 65 percent want him to stay gone.  It's also having a deleterious effect on the coalition which is now trailing Labor 47-53 in a two-party vote.  Before he left for America, PM Malcolm Turnbull claimed Lib-Nat ties within the coalition were strong - even though he had previously dressed-down Mr. Joyce.

Federal Police are considering investigating a social media post by Nats MP George Christensen which depicts him firing a handgun along with the caption, "You gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, greenie punks?"  Christensen thought this would be a good idea just days after 17 students and teachers were gunned down in a Florida high school.  Fairfax reports that Stop Adani campaigner Ben Pennings says he referred the photo to police, because of the "very large spike in online hate, online abuse" in recent week directed at people who oppose the Adani Mine.  "We shouldn't allow bullies to be federal MPs," said Mr. Pennings.

A funny thing happened after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida:  The teens stood up and demanded the adults do something about gun violence in the US.  Much of their outrage was stoked by Republican politicians who take big donations from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and refuse to discuss gun control legislation.  "If the president wants to come up to me and tell me to my face that it was a 'terrible tragedy'," said Douglas HS senior Emma Gonzalez at a rally, "I'm going to happily ask him how much money he received from the NRA."  (That'd be more than US$30 Million, Emma)  The crowd responded by chanting "shame on you" at Donald Trump.  Another group is organizing a nationwide student walk out and March on Washington to protest the Republican-led government's inaction.

Fire has devastated the ancient Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, one of the most important sites in Tibetan Buddhism.

There are concerns because China's official Xinhua news agency sought to play down the fire, while sources in Tibet say it chewed through the roof of the 1,300 year old temple complex, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site.  It's also a politically sensitive area; Jokhang is frequently the site of protests against the Chinese occupation and foreign journalists are forbidden.  "I pray that the fire isn't serious and that the old buildings haven't suffered too much damage," said Tibetan writer Tsering Woeser, "For Tibetans, the Jokhang is the holiest of holy sites."

Authorities suspect Islamist motives after a gunman shot and killed five women at an Orthodox Christian church in the Russian republic of Dagestan, in the North Caucuses.  CCTV caught the alleged gunman walking towards the church in Kizlyar which had just held a service to mark the start of Russian Orthodox Lent.  Cops returned fire and killed the gunman, identified by Russian media as Khalilov Khalil Omarovich.
