The so-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for killing 57 people in a bombing at a voter center in Kabul, Afghanistan.  People were queued up to get registered for parliamentary elections later this year, a key project of President Ashraf Ghani's government, when the suicide attacker detonated an explosive belt.  The dead include 21 women and five children, and at least 119 people were injured.  The terrorist group has targeted the same neighborhood in the past because it is home to a large number of Shiite Muslims.

Two dragon boats capsized, killing 17 people on the Taohua River near Guilin in southern China.  It's not clear what made the boats flip over, but it appears few if any of the rowers - who were practicing for a local race - were wearing float vests.

South Korea's infamous "Nut Rage Sisters" are resigning from the South Korean company that runs Korean Air and a bunch of other subsidiaries.  "Emily" Cho recently made headlines this year for a tantrum in which she whipped water at and shoved an executive who didn't tell her what she wanted to hear.  Older sister "Heather" Cho in 2014 caused an international incident for delaying a Korean Air flight out of New York while she berated a cabin steward for serving her Macadamia Nuts in a bag rather than a dish; she actually served jail time for the trouble she caused.  Both Cho sisters were Vice Presidents, and the daughters of Korean Air Lines chairman Cho Yang-ho, who said:  "As chairman of Korean Air as well as a father, I am terribly sorry for my daughter's misstep," adding, "Everything is my responsibility and fault."

Police arrested Armenian opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan after televised talks with Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan broke down on air.  Thousands of angry people stormed the streets of Yerevan and occupied the main square of the former SSR's capital city.  Other opposition politicians were also arrested.  They object to pro-Russia Sargsyan being appointed PM after serving two terms as president, saying it's too much power for one person to have in a Western-looking democracy.  The EU, which has a partnership agreement with Armenia, called on all sides to "show restraint and act responsibly".

US investigators are looking for the half-naked white male terrorist who murdered four people at a fast food place outside Nashville.  They're not saying much about the motive of 29-year old Travis Reinking, who disappeared into some woods after firing shots from an AR-15 assault weapon at the Waffle House.  He was stopped by James Shaw, Jr., who despite being unarmed and slightly injured dashed forward and pulled the rifle from the punkass's hands.  CNN reported that the FBI pulled Reinking's gun ownership card and confiscated his assault weapons because he had trespassed on White House grounds. But the weapons were handed off to Reinking's dear old dad, who gave them back to his son - including the AR-15 used in the massacre.

Actor Verne Troyer is dead at age 49.  He's best known from the roles of "Mini-Me" from the "Austin Powers" series of spy-spoofs and the banker goblin "Griphook" in 2001's "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".  His management didn't release the cause of death, but it was known that the well-liked actor struggled with depression and alcoholism, and had been admitted to hospital in Los Angeles last month.
