Good Morning Australia!! - A crushing defeat for the fascists as Emmanuel Macron is elected French president by a larger than expected margin - A teenage girl scout defeats nazis - A large group of Chibok schoolgirls are safe for the first time in three years - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

French voters decisively buried fascist Marine Le Pen's presidential ambitions, electing Emmanuel Macron the next President of France.  Le Pen has already conceded defeat, but dubiously claims her 11 Million votes makes her xenophobic Front National (FN) the main party of opposition.  But Le Pen's defeat is more bitter than the nationalists expected:  Losing by a margin of worse than 65 percent to 35 percent, she failed to perform to expectations in last week's polling predicting a 60-40 split.  When the final numbers come in, she may not have even broke 35 percent.  Considering that many French people sat out the election over dissatisfaction with both candidates - effectively rejecting her with a boycott - it is a sound pasting.

In Paris, President-elect Macron's supporters filled the grounds of The Louvre for a celebration in front of the famous I.M. Pei glass pyramid, with the musical performers and the audience they entertained reflecting the diverse, cosmopolitan make-up of modern Paris.  They waved French Tricolor flags, but some also carried the blue banner of the European Union.  When he arrived to address supporters, Mr. Macron walked out as the anthem of the European Union played (Beethoven's "Ode to Joy").  He promised to quickly form a cabinet to serve all French people.  The 39-year old describes himself as a social liberal who opposes the FN's overt bigotry; but his economic policies will continue the same ol'-same ol' free trade (boo), open borders (yay), and making it easier for business to hire and fire at will (boo) that has guided the country for the last couple of decades.  The outcome of this election is a grudging acceptance of the economic status quo topped with a rejection of bigotry and xenophobia.

The 82 former schoolgirls released by the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram met with the country's President Muhammadu Buhari after the government secured their release through negotiations.
Buhari Greets The Chibok Girls
The group of 82 were among more than 200 girls abducted from the Chibok boarding school by the Islamist militants in 2014, a crime which sparked international outrage and the social media hashtag #bringourgirlshome, but not international intervention.  The young women received medical check-ups in the capital Abuja; at least one had a broken arm and others were visibly worn down by their ordeal.  More than 100 Chibok girls are still held by the terrorists.

After meeting with the freed Chibok girls, Mr. Buhari jetted off to London for what appears to be an urgent medical check-up.  Despite taking seven weeks off around the New Year for unspecified treatment in London, the 74-year old Buhari has recently missed a number of public events and fears for his health are rampant.

Nepali officials are considering setting a maximum age for people attempting to climb Mount Everest.  This comes after an 85-year old man died at base camp before his attempt to set the record for oldest man to summit the world's highest peak.  In 2011, an 82 year old man died on Everest.  "It is very necessary to immediately bring that age limit law," said Ang Tshering, head of the Nepal Mountaineering Association.  "If there had been a limit, the loss of life could have been prevented."  The association wants the government to set the limit at 76 years old; the minimum age to climb Everest in 16 years.

Pakistan is claiming it killed 50 Afghani troops in border clashes that broke out on Friday.  Afghanistan disputes the death toll was that high.  The two countries share a porous border which jihadists and smugglers traverse almost at will, and blame each other when things frequently go wrong.  With numbers in dispute, it does appear that at least nine civilians were killed and 42 wounded, including women and children.

Germany has ordered urgent inspections of military barracks after nazi memorabilia was found in two Bundeswehr facilities.  This comes amid the scandal of a soldier who was caught planning to impersonate a Syrian refugee and carry out a terrorist attack.  That led to the discovery of other soldiers with far right wing ties, and nazi German medals, helmets, and weapons displayed in public areas of their army barracks.  Defense Minister Ursula Von der Leyen said last Wednesday that she would not tolerate the veneration of the Wehrmacht in today's army.

Czech police are providing extra security to a girl scout who has received a number of threats after appearing in a viral photo standing up to nazi scum at a protest in Brno.
