UK Prime Minister Theresa May's government survived a no confidence measure on a vote of 325-306.  Despite voting down her Brexit proposal by a record margin just 24 hours earlier, rebel Tories and Northern Ireland's DUP defended Ms. May from Labour, the Lib-Dems, and the SNP from their attempt to remove her from 10 Downing Street.  Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who argued that May's "zombie" administration had no right to govern, has not ruled out tabling further no-confidence motions.  Corbyn also insisted that the government rule out crashing out of the EU without a deal:  "Before there can be any positive discussions about the way forward, the government must remove clearly, once and for all, the prospect of the catastrophe of a no-deal Brexit and all the chaos that would come as a result from that," Corbyn said.

European Council President Donald Tusk is calling for UK leaders to acknowledge the obvious:  "If a deal is impossible, and no-one wants no deal, then who will finally have the courage to say what the only positive solution is?" he tweeted, hinting that the UK should stay in the European Union, at least for the time being.  More and more European leaders are suggesting that the Brexit date be pushed back from 29 March, but only if the UK comes up with a clear plan for its divorce from the continental union.

Turkish prosecutors have issued an international arrest warrant for all star Enes Kanter of the New York Knicks for alleged ties to armed groups taking part in the 2016 failed coup.  Mr. Kanter is a critic of autocrat Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but denies these allegations: "Turkish government cannot present any single piece of evidence of my wrongdoing," he wrote on social media.  "I don't even have a parking ticket in the US.  I have always been a law-abiding resident," he added.  Kanter has a green card, so he's safe to live and work in the US, but recently refuse to take part in an NBA exhibition in London:  "There's a chance that I can get killed out there."

Four American troops were killed in a bombing in Manbij, Syria; the so-called Islamic state claimed responsibility for setting off the bomb in a vegetable market as the Americans passed.

Kenyan President Uruhu Kenyatta says 14 civilians were killed in the terrorist attack on an upscale hotel and office complex in Nairobi, but police found and killed all four al Shabaab gunmen.  Although hundreds were rescued from the compound that held the DusitD2 hotel, the Kenyan Red Cross says at least 19 people are still missing.  Australian PR executive Simon Crump survived the attack by barricading himself in his office with coworkers as the shots rang out:  "We were focused on getting out of there alive, being acutely aware that there were active shooters throughout the compound that we could potentially come under fire from," said Mr. Crump, as quoted by the ABC.  "It's not something you expect when you go to work on a Tuesday morning - that your day will be side-tracked by such events."

The US arrested an American-born Iranian journalist as she visited her family in Saint Louis.  Iran accuses US cops of taking the headscarf from 59-year old reporter Marzieh Hashemi and serving her meals of pork in custody.  She is reportedly being held in Washington, DC, but US journalists can't confirm any jail that will admit to holding her, nor will the FBI comment.

Japan's only home-crown Sumo wrestling grand champion has retired after spending less than two years as a Yokozuna, meaning that Japan's "national sport" once again has no Japanese champions.  Kisenosato had been struggling with injuries for several months and had to pull out of four tournaments in the last year or so, chalking up losing records in the ones he could finish.  His promotion came two decades after the previous two Japanese Yokozumas made the grade in the 1990s, brothers Takanohana and Wakanohana.
