Good Morning Australia!! - Tillerson reportedly calls Trump a "Moron" - Feds question the Las Vegas gunman's partner - Boris Johnson treats casualties of war as an afterthought in the way of business - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called a surprise news conference outside his State Department office to deny a report from NBC news that he had called Donald Trump a "moron" and threatened to resign.  Tillerson denied any plan to leave his job - but didn't specifically deny calling Trump a "Moron", despite several opportunities to do so.  NBC reported that Trump and Tillerson locked horns in July when the orange clown compared the assignment of US troops in warzones to staffing a New York City restaurant.

Days later, Tillerson almost didn't come back to Washington from a vacation because Trump had used the national Boy Scout Jamboree - an organization Tillerson once led - as a political platform in speech peppered with inappropriate language for young people.  Tillerson returned only after the intervention of Defense Secretary James Mattis and soon-to-be Chief of Staff John Kelly, Tillerson's biggest supporters in the administration.  "They did beg him to stay," a senior administration official told NBC News, "They just wanted stability."

The idea that Tillerson would call Trump a "Moron" festered for hours after the Secretary's non-denial denial in the morning.  Eventually on Wednesday afternoon, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said Tillerson did not use the word "moron" to describe the idiot currently infesting the Oval Office.  "The secretary did not use that type of language to speak about the president of the United States," Nauert said, "He did not say that."  Soon after that, Trump appeared at a Las Vegas hospital to congratulate doctors who treated victims of Sunday Night's massacre at a country music concert - he dismissed the initial report as "fake news" that was "totally made-up by NBC" and expressed confidence in Tillerson.  NBC stands by its report.

Anyway..

FBI agents are interviewing Marilou Danley, the former Queensland woman who was the partner of Las Vegas Massacre gunman Stephen Paddock.
Marilou Danley
Stephen Paddock
She arrived at Los Angeles International Airport late last night, where the 62-year old was met by law enforcement agents who immediately escorted her out of the airport.  Agents hope that Danley will give them at the very least an idea of Paddock's midset before he rented a suite in the Mandalay Bay Hotel, brought in a bunch of assault weapons rigged to fire as automatics, and opened fire at an outdoor country music fest 32 storeys below killing 58 people and himself.  Danley's sister in Brisbane told Seven News they believe the millionaire Paddock sent her out of the country do he could go about his murder spree without interruption.

Across America, but just as stupid, Tennessee police pulled over a motorist and found a cache of weapons including two machine guns and 900 rounds of ammunition.
Washington County, TN Sheriff's Office
Washington County Deputies say they are investigating why 43-year old local man Scott Edmisten was carrying a .357-caliber Magnum, a loaded .45-caliber semi-automatic, a .223-caliber fully automatic assault rifle, a .308-yacaliber fully automatic assault rifle, more than 900 rounds of ammunition, as well as two knives and a machete.  They don't think this was related to Las Vegas or any other recent mass shooting, leaving open the possibility that something just as awful was afoot.  Feds will help investigate the source of the automatic weapons, which weren't registered and lack serial numbers.

Moving along..

Catalonia will move to secede from Spain on Monday, in defiance of Madrid's thuggish crackdown on last weekend's independence referendum.  "We know that there may be disbarments, arrests," said pro-independence lawmaker Mireia Boya, "But we are prepared, and in no case will it be stopped."  Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont criticized Spain's King Felipe VI for "deliberately ignoring millions of Catalans" in the king's address earlier this week alleging the independence referendum was referendum illegal and undemocratic.  Madrid has ruled out mediation with the Catalan government.

There are people wondering what UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson has to do to get sacked, after a stunningly offensive comment about civil war-torn Libya:  At a far-right conference in the UK, Johnson said the city of Sirte could be a popular tourism or tech hub for foreign investors, adding, "all they have to do is clear the dead bodies away".  Oooof.  Fellow Conservative MP Sarah Wollaston said this was "crass, poorly judged and grossly insensitive";  Labour's shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry said, "For Boris Johnson to treat those deaths as a joke - a mere inconvenience before UK business people can turn the city into a beach resort - is unbelievably crass, callous and cruel."
