Good Morning Australia!! - Cops bloody an elderly man for refusing to give up his airline seat - How not to rationalize the impotent folly of Trump's missile attack on Syria - Bullets fly at a US elementary school - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

Let's just start with the video everyone's going to be talking about.  The CEO of United Airlines has apologized after shocking video showing a 69-year old man being roughed up and thrown off of a flight because the airline overbooked it.  "This is an upsetting event to all of us here at United," CEO Oscar Munoz said in a statement.  Flight 3411 was scheduled to fly from Chicago to Louisville, Kentucky, but flight attendants announced that four United Airlines employees needed to board; and since no one volunteered to take an US$800 voucher to fly the next day, four people would be chosen at random.  The man claimed to be a doctor traveling to see a patient and could not take a later flight.  Video taken by fellow passengers showed cops and security goons literally dragging him down the aisle, while other angles showed him bloodied and clearly traumatized by the assault.

Initially, Chicago Police seemed to lay responsibility on the victim of the United Airlines Assault, claiming that he "fell down"; like something a mobster would say when confronted with evidence of a crime.  But later, Chicago Department of Aviation Police - a separate agency - suspended the cop and released a statement:  "The incident on United flight 3411 was not in accordance with our standard operating procedure and the actions of the aviation security officer are obviously not condoned by the Department.  That officer has been placed on leave effective today pending a thorough review of the situation."

Elsewhere in stupid violent America, two people are dead after a shooting at an elementary school in San Bernardino, California, and two children are in a critical condition.  Police say a female teacher was shot and killed by the suspect, who may have accidentally shot the kids before taking his own life.  The school and a neighboring high school were immediately put on lockdown; parents and guardians were told to bring their IDs to collect their kids, a releasing process that took hours.

The US rather preposterously claims that last week's ridiculous cruise missile attack on a Syrian air base damaged or destroyed 20 percent of Syria's operational aircraft.  Defense Secretary James Mattis said Syria would be "ill-advised ever again to use chemical weapons".  Witnesses already reported that the Syrians launched aircraft from the slightly damaged Al Shayrat air base right after the US Tomahawk missiles struck, and the US already acknowledged that the runways were not damaged.

Of course, if Trump really wanted to destroy that Syrian air base, why didn't he just build one of his casinos on it?

Argentinians are outraged at the judge who paroled a convicted rapist who turned around and murdered a young woman who campaign against violence against women.  21-year-old Micaela Garcia attended several demonstrations related to the "Not One Less" campaign.  Police arrested Sebastian Wagner in the killing, a man who should have been in prison until 2020 on two previous rape convictions had he not been released by Judge Carlos Rossi.  President Mauricio Macri and his Justice Minister are calling on Rossi to step down.

Police in southern India have filed a case against a ruling BJP party official who threatened to "behead" those opposed to the building of a Hindu temple on the site of a destroyed mosque.  A Hindu mob razed the mosque 25 years ago, and it remains a sore spot in Hindu-Muslim relations.  T. Raja Singh made the threat last week, and Hyderbad police went after him for "deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs".  The BJP is a Hindu nationalist party, and denies accusations of fomenting of increasing intolerance.

South African President Jacob Zuma says people protesting against his corruption-ridden and largely incompetent rule are "racists", and that racist placards were seen among protesters over the weekend.  Of course, the protesters seen on the streets over the weekend were Black, White, and Asian; and more protests are planned for Wednesday - President Zuma's 75th birthday.
