Good Morning Australia!! - A gruesome prison riot kills dozens - New worries that Boris Johnson has no plan beyond moving in to Number 10 - What influenced the teen gunman at a classic American food festival? - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

Rival gangs battled in a remote northern Brazilian prison, killing at least 52 people - 16 by beheading, the rest asphyxiating when the prison was set on fire.  This happened at Altamira Jail in Para state, where the facilities are old and insecure and the guards are terribly underpaid.  Authorities claim there had been no prior warning signs of the impending violence.  Officials also deny ot was overcrowded, even though it was designed for 200 prisoners and housed 309.

Boris Johnson paid his first visit to Scotland as the UK's new prime Minister, and it was.. chilly.  Crowds in Edinburgh greeted him with boos for his meeting with Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who had earlier said: "The people of Scotland did not vote for this Tory Government, they didn't vote for this new Prime Minister."  She also criticized Johnson for not having a plan to negotiate a new Brexit deal with the European Union, which doesn't want to budge from the deal already reached with his predecessor Theresa May.  The prominent think-tank Institute for Government said the UK in October may be even less prepared for a no-deal Brexit in October than it was earlier this year, and warned that separatist sentiment in Scotland would skyrocket.

Police in Los Gatos, California identify the gunman who shot eleven people - killing three - at a famous regional food festival as 19-year old Santino William LeGan.  His social media profile tipped alt-right influences and recommended a 19th Century book on white male supremacy that has been revered by fascists, nationalists, and gaming/troll websites where that kind of idiotic stuff is spread.  Authorities say he brought an assault weapon to the Gilroy Garlic Festival - which is a famous family activity throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond - and opened fire.  Before police killed the suspect, LeGan's victims included a 6-year old boy and a 13-year old boy, showing that he went out in a blaze of gutless cowardice.

Up in northern Manitoba, Canada, police continue the hunt for the suspected killers of Australian man Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese, as well as University of British Columbia professor Leonard Dyck.  It's going on in very rugged terrain with very few roads, and the last confirmed sighting of Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod was last week.  "You would have to go many miles to reach anything," said Chief Leroy Constant of the York Factory indigenous group.  "The community is still on lockdown - very much on edge and still uneasy."

Another death has been associated with the "Into the Wild" story, which is a popular book and movie with people who like outdoor adventures.  24-year-old Belarusian woman Veranika Nikanava was swept away and drowned in Alaska’s Teklanika River, just outside Denali National Park.  She and her husband were hiking in the extremely remote territory to reach the bus made famous in the story when the accident occurred; he survived.  A Swiss hiker died the same way in 2010.  The decrepit, abandoned bus in the far northern wilderness was used as shelter by Christopher McCandless in 1992, who died there while trying to live off the land but got cut off from his only route back to civilization.
