Austria's parliament passed a no-confidence measure against conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, the day after delivering a victory for his People's Party in the European elections.  But Kurz was under fire after members of the far-right ironically-named Freedom Party were caught in a video sting trying to sell influence to what they thought were Russian oligarchs.  Kurz sacked the far-right ministers, but their allies then joined with the Socialists to pass the no-confidence measure.  And the final twist?  The far-right minister in the video Heinz Christian Strache won his European Parliament race, so he still has a job despite bringing down his government.  Austria's election is scheduled for September.

UK Labour's Jeremy Corbyn is finally expressly backing a new referendum on the Brexit, after months of dancing around the edges.  "It is clear that the deadlock in parliament can now only be broken by the issue going back to the people through a general election or a public vote," Jeremy wrote to MPs, "We are ready to support a public vote on any deal."  This comes after Nigel Farage and his Brexit party destroyed the competition in the UK's European Parliament election, winning the most seats - Brexit Party was followed by the newly resuscitated Lib-Dems, Labour, The Greens, and the hapless Tories.

Israel's parliament passed a preliminary motion to dissolve itself, less than two months after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to win another mandate.   The problem for Bibi is frenemy and former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who won't join a coalition unless Israel passes a law mandating that young ultra-Orthodox men be drafted into the military, just like other Jewish males.  Netanyahu wants him to put that aside; if he doesn't, parliament could dissolve on Wednesday, leading to a new election. lustzone.ch

The Red Cross is awarding a posthumous Florence Nightingale Medal to Kirsty Boden, the Aussie nurse who was murdered by terrorists as they carried out the London Bridge attack almost two years ago.  Kirsty was having dinner with friends, saw the trouble, and immediately ran towards it to help people who had been knifed by three Islamist extremists in London's Borough Market area.  The three terrorists stabbed Kirsty just before they were shot and killed by Metro Police.
