Yemen's Houthi rebels killed the country's former autocrat President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and broadcast gruesome footage of his corpse being parades in the streets on rebel TV (warning: super gross content).  Correspondents describe his body with intense damage to the back of his skull, and don't look if you're eating breakfast.  The Houthi say he was killed while they attacked his mansion with rocket-propelled grenades.  Saleh ruled Yemen for three decades until he was deposed in 2012, and since then tried to navigate his way back to power by aligning with the Iran-backed Houthi against the Saudi-backed government of his successor Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.  That alliance didn't go too well for him, and the civil war has reduced much of the country to rubble, with widespread famine and disease.

Malta arrested ten suspects in the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who who wrote about official corruption on the Mediterranean island nation.  This comes two months after she was killed by a bomb planted in her car.  Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said all of the suspects are Maltese nationals and most have criminal records.  International experts including the American FBI were called in to work on the investigation.

Donald Trump is backing an accused pedophile who is running for the US Senate.  In his morning dump tweets, the orange clown said "we need his vote" to pass his far-right reactionary agenda, and:  "Go get em Roy!"  Several women have accused extreme right-winger Roy Moore of molesting them when they were as young as 14 years old and he was in his 30s, working as a prosecutor in Alabama.  Most Republican leaders have abandoned Moore or called for him to leave the race.  For Democrats, it could be good thing; if Alabama's electorate rejects Moore, they win back a seat they haven't held in decades.  If Moore wins, he could get his stain all over every other Republican candidate in the rest of the country where people actually are disgusted by pedophiles.

Another apparent advocate of pedophilia, right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopolous, will visit Parliament on Tuesday and speak in the private dining rooms as a guest of crossbench senator David Leyonhjelm, who is hiding behind the usual specious "free speech" arguments to justify giving a platform to a pedophilia advocate.  Last night, police in Melbourne arrested several people as anti-fascist protesters clashed with nazi scum outside a venue where Yiannopolous was talking.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez is 1.59 percentage points "ahead" in the "recount" of last month's election.  Violence has been increasing after election authorities appeared to massage the election results after the first count showed opposition candidate Salvador Nasralla with a five point lead.  At least three people have been killed by US-trained police - including a teenage girl - and hundreds have been arrested.

South Africa's anti-corruption watchdog says authorities squandered US$22 Million on waste and idiotic spending over the funeral for Nelson Mandela.  The money was earmarked for education, sanitation, and healthcare.  Instead, officials blew it on personal spending including $24 T-Shirts, catering, and transport.  The 300-page report urged President Jacob Zuma to task law enforcement with a criminal investigation of the debacle.
