Two trains crashed in the German state of Bavaria near Bad Aibling, a spa town south of Munich, killing at least ten people.  More than 50 people are injured.  This happened on a bend where the drivers couldn't see each other until it was too late.  Two of three "blackbox" data recorders on the trains have been recovered, and investigators hope to learn why one ran a red light, and why an automatic braking system that should have kept the trains apart had failed.

Swedish cops busted more than a dozen fascist scum from Poland over an alleged plot organized over social media to attack asylum seekers with axes, iron pipes, and knives.  Authorities were acting on a tip when they located 14 Polish nationals in their cars near the asylum center in Nynashamn, a town about 60 kilometers south of Stockholm.  It's not the first trouble this group has caused in Sweden:  "Three of them were involved in a demonstration against refugees two weeks ago and were arrested for assaulting someone," said police spokesman Lars Alvarsjo to Radio Sweden.  Last month, cops battled about a hundred masked fascists who gathered in central Stockholm to attack immigrants and pass out hate literature.

A Bosnian Serb general died in his prison cell in the UN detention unit at The Hague, two decades after taking part in the Srebrenica Massacre.  It was the most despicable chapter of the 1990s Balkan Wars.  Back then, Zdravko Tolimir was the right-hand man to Ratko Mladic - who is currently awaiting a verdict in his war crimes trial stemming from the systematic murders of 8,000 Bosniak men and boys.  Tolimir tried to appeal his sentence last year, but that was rejected.

South African President Jacob Zuma is admitting he was wrong to ignore a corruption watchdog's report and will repay some of the state funds used to upgrade his private estate with such luxuries as a swimming pool and an amphitheater.  At the same time, Zuma's attorney is urging South Africa's high court to avoid making statements that will give the opposition fuel to launch impeachment proceedings.  Both the National Alliance (NA) on the center-right and Left-wing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) staged anti-Zuma protests outside the court.

AeroMexico has apologized to a noted Sihk-American actor and designer who was refused entry onto a flight from Mexico City to New York because he refused to take off his turban on religious grounds.  Waris Ahluwalia has appeared in several Wes Anderson films alongside Hollywood stars such as Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman.  On Monday he wasn't allowed on the plane- but he refused to take a "more inclusive" airline, prefering to stand on principle:  "At this point," he said, "I realize that this isn’t about my convenience or getting home for lunch today.  I realize that if I walk away, somebody else was going to go through this experience again."  AeroMexico released a statement reading, "We apologize to Mr Waris Ahluwalia for the bad experience he had with one of our security elements in addressing your flight to New York in the Mexico City International Airport.  This case motivates us to ensure that security personnel strengthen its care protocols, always respecting the cultural and religious values of customers."

A former Texas prosecutor who used false testimony and withheld evidence to send an innocent man to death row is now disbarred.  Anthony Graves spent nearly two decades in prison for murders he did not commit before he was exonerated.  He eventually won a US$1.7 Million settlement from Texas.  Charles Sebesta is unable to practive law anymore, but there's not world on charges against him for prosecutorial misconduct.  Exonerations of US criminal convictions hit a record high in 2015, not least because of reviews in Texas and New York which discovered stacks of troubled cases.  And yes, the vast majority of the exonerated men are black, and the cops and prosecutors are white.
