US Congressional Democrats battered Attorney General and Trump ally Jeff Sessions as he testified before the the Senate Intelligence Committee about his previously undisclosed contacts with the Russians, amid the concerns over Russian influence on last year's US presidential elections.  Sessions claimed "never met with or had any conversation with any Russians or any foreign officials concerning any type of interference" and suggestions he colluded with the Kremlin are a "detestable lie".  But as America's chief defender of the law hemmed and hawed and refused to provide details, Senators accused him of stonewalling and obstructing the investigation.  Now would he deny stories that the White House is considering issuing pardons to allies caught in the investigation.

Russia's hacking into the US election in 2016 was much worse than has been publicly revealed, according to a report by Bloomberg news.  Hackers tapped official voter databases and software systems in 39 states, twice as many as previously acknowledged.  The Kremlin denies interfering in the US election.

The death toll in a cholera epidemic in war-torn Yemen has doubled in the last two weeks, with 923 people dead.  With 124,000 confirmed or suspected cases through 20 or Yemen's 22 provinces, the UN World Health Organization fears the outbreak could affect as many as 300,000 people within six months.

Food poisoning swept through an Iraqi refugee camp, sickening more than 800 people who ate at an Iftar dinner.  Around 200 required hospitalization.  The situation at the Hassan Sham U2 camp, located about 20 kilometers east of Mosul, has become a flashpoint in the Gulf States Crisis between Qatar and a bloc of Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia and Egypt.  The Saudis are accusing Qatar of providing tainted food at the camp, which is funded by Qatar's largest relief agency.

The US Ambassador to Qatar is stepping down right in the middle of the Gulf States Crisis.  The US State Department insists that Ambassador Dana Shell Smith made her plans earlier this year.  But it comes as the State Department and Pentagon try to ease the tensions while the orange clown Donald Trump undercuts them by taking the side of Saudi Arabia and others in accusing Qatar of sponsoring terrorism, despite the fact that Qatar is a long-time US ally in the war on terror and hosts 10,000 US troops.

So what explains Trump's behavior?  Investigative journalist Clayton Swisher reports that the orange clown didn't have a problem with Qatari money just a few years ago.  In 2010, Trump tried and failed to secure Qatari financing for some of his screwball projects by characteristically talking about how wonderful he thinks he is; the Qataris were not impressed and talks ended with a Trump tantrum.  The Qataris later turned down Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner for a bailout on his terrible investment in the money-sucking 666 Fifth Avenue building in New York City.  It's a fair bet that the Qatari businessmen didn't know the future security of their country would be at risk.

A suspected North Korean drone took photos of a new US missile defense site located in South Korea before crashing near he DMZ on its way back to the North.  South Korean military officials say the blue unmanned aircraft was carrying a Sony camera with about ten photos of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) site located in Seongju.  Other photos were taken of South Korean agricultural sites.

North Korea is sending an imprisoned American home - in a coma.  22-year old Otto Warmbier was a tourist when he was arrested and admitted attempting to steal a propaganda sign off of a hotel wall.  Shortly after being convicted and sentenced to prison last year, he contracted botulism and was given a sleeping pill.  He hasn't woken up since.  Warmbier's parents said they weren't informed about the young man's medical condition until North Korea put him on the medivac plane.

Panama cut off diplomatic relations with Taiwan in favor of China, in a diplomatic coup for Beijing.  That leaves just 20 nations that recognize Taiwan.  The Panamanian government issued a statement saying there was "only one China", and that Taiwan was a part of it.  A big motivator is the fact that China is the second largest user of the Panama canal, after the United States.  Taiwan is considered a renegade province by Beijing.

China has charged 15 employees of Australia's Crown Resorts with illegally promoting gambling and set a 26 June hearing date in Shanghai.  Among them are three Australian citizens including senior Crown executive Jason O'Connor.  Crown scaled back its China expansion plans after the 15 were arrested last October.
