Good Morning Australia!! - Trump's stunning incompetence as his Gulf allies bicker among themselves - A South Australian woman was one of those killed in London - Terror at Notre Dame - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

I hate to keep leading with the orange clown, but this is kind of a big one.  Donald Trump is injecting himself into the middle of the Gulf States Dispute, for some reason taking credit for Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and others cutting off relations with Qatar over Doha's supposed support of terrorism.  This apparently stems from Qatar's "reported" ransom payment to get a royal out of jail in Iran, the chief rival to the Arab states - the last straw after years of dealing with Doha's independence-streak and funding of the Al Jazeera news network.
Not one to think first
So Trump stepped right into it, tweeting:  "During my recent trip to the Middle East I stated that there can no longer be funding of Radical Ideology.  Leaders pointed to Qatar - look!"

Problem is, the US has a massive military presence in Qatar, which is a key player on the war on terror.
Huge American Presence

More than 10,000 US service-members are stationed there, and the air base is the only one in the region that can handle B-52 bombers.
It wasn't a rock! It was a Rock Lobster!
This forced the Pentagon to furiously backpedal off of Trump's complete and utter stupidity: "We recognize that there are differing views in the region that have gotten us to this point," a frustrated Pentagon spokesperson wrote into a statement, "United States and the Coalition are grateful to the Qataris for their longstanding support of our presence and their enduring commitment to regional security.  We have no plans to change our posture in Qatar."

Unless maybe Qatar is thinking of plans to change the US presence, because Trump is such a f**king idiot by backing the Saudi worldview, rather than managing it as his more intelligent predecessor did.  If the Saudis are going to cut off Qatar, Iran is more than happy to pick up the slack.  When the Saudis closed the border, Qataris stripped grocery store shelves bare.  So, Tehran took the diplomatic high ground and offered food shipments and airspace to the embattled country on the other side - the Saudi side - of the Persian Gulf.

Qatari flights have already begun flying north to Iran to turn over Iraq and Jordan and continue on to the rest of the world, as seen on one of those online flight tracking websites.

ANYWAY...

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has finally stepped up her defense of the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan after Donald Trump criticized his handling of last weekend's terrorist attack.  "I think Donald Trump was wrong in the things he has said about Sadiq Khan," said Ms. May of his widely celebrated handling of the crisis, "We have been working with Sadiq Khan - party politics are put to one side - we work together."  Mayor Khan is a member of Labour, PM May is a Tory - Trump is a lower order simian.  But the prime minister would not cancel Trump's planned state visit to the UK later this year, which Mr. Khan and several other British politicians said should be put off in light of his boorish conduct.

South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden has been positively identified as one of the people killed in Saturday night's terrorist attack in London, in which three men with knives stabbed and slashed as scores of people, killing seven and injuring 48 before they were gunned down by police.  Her family said that the 28-year old Ms. Boden rushed towards the trouble to put her skills to work and help the wounded.  Meanwhile, authorities say the third London Bridge attacker has been named as 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba, a Moroccan-Italian man.

Paris police shot and wounded a man who attacked a police officer outside Notre Dame Cathedral with a hammer while shouting, "This is for Syria!"  The officer was only slightly hurt.

Not knowing if the attacker was part of a larger plot, police locked down the cathedral and had tourists put their hands above their heads while cops evacuated the area.  There was no accomplice.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari is "recuperating fast" from his illness", according to his wife.  Mr. Buhari has been in London for about a month for the unspecified treatment.  Around the New Year, Buhari spent seven weeks in a London hospital.  Although there is anxiety about Buhari's ability to resume his responsibility as the country's leader, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been widely praised for guiding Nigeria through an economic emergency caused by sinking oil prices.
