Zimbabwe's ruling party is asking its founder and President Robert Mugabe to stand aside.  At least eight out of ten regional secretaries for the ZANU-PF party urged the 93-year old Mugabe to step down from the presidency and before Saturday's military-sponsored rally in the capital.  The party and war veterans have withdrawn their support of Mugabe - who has run the country since 1980 - after he sacked the country's vice president and appeared to set up his 50-year old wife Grace Mugabe as his successor.

Saad Hariri is expected in Paris sometime on Saturday, two weeks after strangely resigning as Prime Minister of Lebanon while on a visit to Saudi Arabia, claiming that there was a plot against him back home.  Since then, Lebanon's President and other officials have demanded Saudi Arabia come up with some answers as to why he never returned to his country, eventually accusing the Saudis of detaining Mr. Hariri - who now rubbishes those charges.  Hariri and the Saudis are Sunni Muslim while Lebanon's government is dominated by Hezbollah which is allied with Shiite Iran, but even that doesn't explain the intrigue or what France now has to do with any of it.

Former Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma has escaped 1,000 days of house arrest and fled to Colombia.  He had been detained for two and a half years for plotting a coup and inciting some of the violence that killed 43 people in anti-government protests in 2014.  Ledezma was one of the highest-profile rivals to President Nicolas Maduro, who keeps winning elections - despite the West labeling him a dictator and failing to come up with any evidence the elections were fixed.

Argentina's Navy confirms it has lost contact with a submarine with 44 crewmembers on board.  The ARA San Juan is a German-built TR 1700 class diesel-electric submarine, and its last known position was near the San Jorge Gulf, about 240 nautical miles from the country's southern shore.  Officials are not treating the situation as an emergency, yet.  Several Naval vessels and military planes are searching the waters in the area.

The US Navy is admitting that one of its pilots used a Boeing EA-18G Growler jet to draw a big ol' penis in the sky over Washington State using its contrail.

Commanders at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island did not see the funny side and have ordered an inquiry.

Poland's prime minister is condemning the EU for condemning the massive fascist rally that took over the nation's Independence Day celebration earlier this month.  Some 60,000 neo-nazi scum and fascist scum burned torches and carried racist symbols through the Polish capital, horrifying European capitals.  But at a EU summit in Goteborg, Sweden, the conservative Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said the hate march was a "beautiful white-red manifestation", referring to the Polish flag, and she would "never allow my nation" to be "slandered and insulted".  That seems to be a reversal of President Andrzej Duda's sharp condemnation of the rally.

When South Korean doctors performed surgery on the North Korean soldier who was shot and wounded by his own people as he fled across the border crossing at Panmunjom, they found some pretty disgusting evidence that all is not well in the North.  The defector was riddled with eleven-inch-long intestinal parasites, which contaminated his gunshot wounds.  The doctors say they've only seen worms that size in medical texts.  The full grown man was also much lighter and a few inches shorter than the average height and weight of a South Korean high schooler.  It suggests that even though the North Korean military gets the best available food and medical care in the North, it is now living in squalid conditions while Kim Jong-un and his inner circle live in well-fed luxury.
