Hello Australia!! - Bad water and global warming cause more damage to the Great Barrier Reef, which is plainly visible when you look in the right place - Shocking new information on the status of one of Australia's most wanted terrorists - Erdogan threatens Europe - One of TV's best loved mums is dead - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

Damage to the Great Barrier Reef from bleaching is much worse than previously thought - mostly because of Global Warming, but also because of the Federal Government's failure to meet national targets to improve water quality on the reef.  "Essentially, this is confirming that this is the worst bleaching event that the reef has seen by a very, very long way," said Dr. David Wachenfeld, director of reef recovery at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.  He says the rate of coral death following bleaching due to high ocean temperatures will be greater than earlier predictions 22 percent.

One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson, who apparently is incapable of feeling embarrassment, went snorkling to "prove" the reef is actually okay, choosing a spot 1,300 kilometers away from disastrous bleaching event threatening to destroy one of the nation's greatest treasures.  That's kind of pointing to Uluru to prove the Capertee Valley isn't a canyon, or emigrating to another country because there are immigrants here.

One of Australia's most wanted terrorists is not dead, as previously reported.  The New York Times reports Neil Prakesh, formerly of Melbourne, is under arrest in Turkey.  Cops there took Prakesh into custody, acting on information from Australian intelligence, according to the ABC.  In April, the US had informed the Federal government that Prakesh died in a drone strike, which was announced in Parliament the next month.  It may turn out that Prakesh was wounded in the strike.  Authorities have linked him to a stabbing attack on two Melbourne police officers and a plot to kidnap and behead an officer.

French police arrested five suspects who were allegedly plotting attacks at Disneyland Paris and the police headquarters in the capital.  Prosecutors say the so-called Islamic State in Syria was instructing the five suspects, who were planning the attack on 1 December.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is threatening to unleash a new wave of asylum seekers and migrants on Europe.  Erdogan (who once had his balls kicked in by a horse) is irked over calls from the European Parliament to cut off any discussions about allowing Turkey to become an EU member because of its crackdown on dissent after the failed coup.  "You started asking what you would do if Turkey would open the gates," Erdogan said in a speech before a Women's group that had nothing to do with the subject:  "Look at me - if you go further, those border gates will be open.  You should know that," he threatened.  The European Union has been giving Turkey billions in cash to halt the flow of refugees, which went from 2,000 a day at its peak to less than a hundred per day now.  But even that doesn't include those who use Turkey to illegally cross the Aegean to Greece.

A gas cylinder explosion at the Moria refugee camp on the Greek Island of Lesbos killed a 66-year old woman and a six-year old child.  The deaths sparked outrage among people frustrated over their conditions, who set fires to other parts of the camp in protest.  Around 16,000 people are stranded in camps in the Greek Islands after the EU signed a deal aimed at stemming the influx of migrants.

Brady Bunch actress Florence Henderson is dead at age 82.  Her manager said she died of heart failure in her Los Angeles home while surrounded by her family and friends.  From 1969 to 1974 and forever in syndication, Ms. Henderson played the perpetually cheerful "lovely lady" Carol Brady mother of three daughters who wed a widower and created one big blended family with his three sons.

US Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has formally requested a recount of the vote from the election two weeks ago.  Donald Trump won the state, which went against most polling and predictions that Hillary Clinton would take the state.  The chances of flipping the state to Hillary Clinton are incredibly slim, and Wisconsin alone would not change the results of the election - but Ms. Stein has raised enough money for recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania as well.

US president-elect Donald Trump's camp has announced that Fox News commentator K.T. McFarland will join his administration as deputy national security adviser - which gives an idea about the mentality of the cabinet selection process.  TV reality show guy picks TV talking head.  SMDH.  Also, Washington, DC lawyer and consummate Beltway insider Donald McGahn will be White House counsel.  So much for all of that "drain the swamp" nonsense, he's apparently draining it and pumping it directly into the West Wing.

A train collision killed at least 35 people in the freezing, arid, and remote hills of northern Iran.  One train had broken down because of the cold and stalled, and then was struck by the other.  President Hassan Rouhani has ordered an investigation.

Israel now has twelve suspects in custody for alleged arson in the bush fires around the country.  One burned into the city of Haifa, forcing the evacuation of at least 80,000 people.  Rightwing Israeli politicians have been fanning the flames of hate against Palestinians, and hardline Palestinian blowhards are praising the alleged arsonists, all of them failing to mention that Palestinian firefighters are helping Israelis battle the fires.

Apparently, Alain Robert isn't getting too old to climb stuff without permission.
