Hello Australia!! - The billionaire who profits off of Trump's big mouth - Is a thoroughly avoidable trade war looming? - China threatens war if the US upsets the status quo - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

The possibility of a global trade war increased as Europe threatened to slap tariffs on very symbolic US products such as Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Kentucky bourbon, and bluejeans - if the orange clown Donald Trump goes ahead with a plan to place tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.  World markets rumbled when the idiot belched his desire to place a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum as early as next week.  "None of this is reasonable, but reason is a sentiment that is very unevenly distributed in this world," declared Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission.  Every international organization - the IMF, the WTO - and most other countries warned that Trump's stupid idea would cause chaos and higher prices from pole to pole.  The idiot who has never dealt with an international trade issue in his life responded, "Trade wars are good, and easy to win."

Trump's pal and informal advisor, billionaire investor Carl Icahn, dumped US$31.3 Million in steel and aluminum-related stocks last month - just days before the clown announced his tariff scheme.  Trump's pal safely disposed of his stock in Manitowoc, a crane and lifting equipment manufacturer, for $32 to $34 per share.  On Friday morning, after Trump announced the tariffs, Manitowoc's shares had fallen 5.48 percent to $26.37, meaning that Trump's pal managed to avoid losing about $6 Million.  Icahn was a "special advisor" to Trump's White House, but he resigned just before a New Yorker article that detailed how he used his relationship with Trump to protect his investments.

China is threatening Taiwan and the US Congress after the passage the "Taiwan Travel Act" that lifts many restrictions on US-Taiwan relations.  Beijing considers Taiwan to be a rogue province, and reminded Taipei that war is a possibility: "We sternly warn Taiwan not to rely on foreigners to build you up, or it will only draw fire against yourself," said an official to the Xinhua news agency.  Strongly worded editorials followed in the China Daily and Global Times.  Since 1979 the US has maintained a "One China" policy, but has all sorts of unofficial links to Taiwan.  The orange clown has talked about upending that arrangement, to the anger of Beijing.

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri is urging congress to debate removing restrictions on Abortion rights, which he personally opposes.  But there has been a groundswell of pro-choice sentiment for women's reproductive equality, and Macri is urging "mature, responsible debates" and that "all voices are heard and are taken into consideration".  Like many Latin American countries where the Catholic Church was influential, Argentina restricts abortion except in cases of rape and health risks to the woman, despite a 2012 Supreme Court decision that was supposed to get judges out of medical decisions.  Despite restrictions, as many as 522,000 women undergo illegal abortions in Argentina every year.

There's been no claim of responsibility for the terrorist attack in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou which claimed at least 15 lives - eight attackers and seven soldiers.  Other reports suggested the attack was much bloodier.  Gunmen yelling "Allahu Akbar!" hit several targets in two waves, including the military headquarters and the French Embassy.  France says none of its people were hurt.

A fire raced through a drug treatment center in Azerbaijan's capital Baku, killing at least 24 people.  Another 31 people were rescued.

The cease-fire in East Ghouta is a joke.  Russian forces carried out 30 sorties over the area over the past 24 hours, and that's according to Syria's pro-government media.  Syrian troops advanced into the rebel-held Damascus suburban region, and at least 674 people are dead - many fatalities occurring since the UN Security Council called for a cease fire a week ago.  The US, France, and Germany called on Damascus and Moscow to abide by the ceasefire.  They also promised a "firm response" if Syria was responsible for the chlorine gas attack last weekend that killed two children and hospitalized 18 other people.

A third person's death has been linked to listeria in Rockmelons - AKA Cantaloupes - in Victoria.  At least 15 people around Australia have now been infected, with patients reported in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales. and Tasmania.  The listeriosis outbreak has been traced to a farm in NSW.
