Indonesian President Joko Widodo is condemning the "chaos" in the capital Jakarta after a hardline Islamist group led violent protests against the Christian Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.  The Islamic Defenders Front accuses the governor of blasphemy over comments he made about the Koran.  After dark fell following the march of 150,000 people, the troublemakers came out and battled police, set fires to cars, and attacked a television news crew.  Many in the mob called for the governor's death.  President Widodo blamed "political actors" for fanning the violence.

The so-called Islamic State is piling on the atrocities as Iraqi forces move deeper into Mosul and its suburbs.  The terrorists reportedly executed 150 of its own troops for alleged desertion, took more than a thousand people for use as human shields, and are conscripting local boys as young as nine years old as soldiers.

Three US military trainers have been shot to death outside an air base in Jordan.  The investigation is on to determine if this was a standard attack or if terrorists infiltrated Jordanian forces.  One year ago, a suspected IS loyalist within Jordan's police force killed five people including two Americans at a training center near the capital Amman.

Two new wrinkles in the shyte-show that is the 2016 Presidential Election in the US:  Officials are assessing intelligence of potential terror threats on the day before election day; New York City, Virginia, and Texas are purportedly listed as targets.  Also, US military hackers say they've penetrated Russia's online infrastructure and are ready to strike back if Russian hackers try to mess with the computer voting machines across America.

Two polls indicate that Hillary Clinton has stabilized a slight lead over orange fascist, misogynist, racist, dimwit, and useful idiot to Russian intelligence Donald Trump.  Don't worry, US voters, it's just the fate of the free world you're screwing with.

Demonstrators in Chile set fire to buses in protests demanding the end of the privatized pension system begun under fascist dictator Augusto Pinochet.  The No More AFP movement wants President Michelle Bachelet to scrap the system, which has been praised by pro-market economists around the world, despite the fact that it leaves most Chileans with poverty-level retirement incomes.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says he will not accept "ultimatums" for early elections from the conservative opposition trying to oust him.  The progress made in talks between the two sides and moderated by the Vatican appears to be ebbing away.  The democratically-elected Maduro's supporters are camping out in front of the presidential residence to defend Maduro from an attempts at a coup, which the conservatives have tried before.

The Vatican is condemning a right-wing Catholic radio station in Italy for blaming the recent earthquakes on LGBT rights.  A Dominican friar on Radio Maria said the quakes which killed nearly 300 people were caused by sins of man, including Italy's approval of same-sex civil unions last May.  The Vatican said the Fr. John Cavalcoli's remarks are "offensive and scandalous" and "Pagan" - outside church teaching.  Radio Maria has been accused of anti-Semitism in the past.

Denmark's policy of confiscating cash and assets from refugees flooding into its little corner of Europe from the wars of the Middle East, and economic hardship in African and South Asia has brought in about AU$22,000 since February.  Why?  Because refugees don't have any cash or assets.  Imagine that.
