In the US, Senator Bernie Sanders officially kicked off his 2020 Presidential Campaign in Brooklyn, New York City where he called Donald Trump the "most dangerous president" in recent US history.  Attacking corporate greed, Bernie says and the "billionaire class" he promised to bring Americans together around an ambitious progressive agenda including: A "federal jobs guarantee"; a higher minimum wage; universal healthcare as a right; free university education for all; and "comprehensive" immigration reform, including allowing hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants to stay in the US.  Bernie saved his barbs for Trump: "I did not have a father who gave me millions of dollars to build luxury skyscrapers, casinos and country clubs," he said, "But I had something more valuable: I had the role model of a father who had unbelievable courage in journeying across an ocean, with no money in his pocket, to start a new and better life."

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has temporarily left prison for the first time since April 2018 to attend his 7-year-old grandson's funeral.  The boy is the child of Sandro Luis Lula da Silva, one of the sons of the ex-president, and died of meningitis on Friday.  Brazilian authorities did not release Lula for his brother's funeral in January.  Supporters in and out of Brazil say the government trumped up phony corruption charges against him and jailed him for 12 years to end his political career; polls said the successful Left-winger would have easily won the recent election that instead went to the racist, sexist, homophobic Jair Bolsonaro.
