Los Angeles police on rushed to the home of disgraced television actor Stephen Collins, after neighbors heard a loud noise – believing it to have been a possible suicide attempt.  Earlier in the day, reports broke that the star of TV’s religious family drama “7th Heaven” had confessed to sexually abusing girls as young as 11 years old.

“He's not dead; he’s alive,” an LAPD spokesperson said.  “He was not at home at the time of the alleged incident, and there's no evidence of any gun shot.”

Collins had been locked in a contentious divorce from his wife of 27 years Faye Grant, who apparently recorded Collin’s confession during a therapy session, which was leaked to the internet gossip site TMZ.  The incidents described by Collins in the recording happened 20 to 40 years ago, and included exposing himself to children and molesting others.  Faye Grant says he’s a child molester who refuses to get help.

The entertainment world is wasting no time in distancing itself from Collins.  As soon as the TMZ report broke, he was immediately fired from the movie “Ted 2”, and reruns of “7th Heaven” have been cancelled on Australia’s Ten Network and in America.  The American Repertory Theater’s upcoming production of Eve Ensler’s “O.P.C. (Obsessive Political Correctness)” has wiped his name from the cast list and promotional materials.

The 67-year old soon-to-be former actor resigned his position on the national board of the Screen Actors Guild.
