Russian police are detaining three people in the Acid Attack on the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Sergei Filin, which shocked the worlds of art and dance.  One of the suspects is a star of the famed Russian Ballet Company.

Investigators believe that Dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko ordered the attack, and was with the person who carried it out on the night of 17 January.  The masked attackers called out Filin’s name and hurled a jar of Sulphuric Acid in his face.  A third suspect detained is said to be the wheelman.

Filin has said that he knew his attacker and the gruesome attack was apparently captured on a security video.  It followed a period of power struggles and in-house bickering at the Bolshoi.

Filin’s eyesight was damaged, although doctors in Germany say they’ll be able to partially restore it.
