The downward spiral of a Hollywood actress took an even sadder turn as authorities placed Amanda Bynes in hospital on an “Involuntary Psychiatric Hold”, or, “5150” in police parlance.

They took the measure after Bynes allegedly set a small fire in the driveway of a Ventura County woman who she apparently does not know.  Bynes’ dog was injured in the incident, and she’s seen on a security video rushing into an area liquor store after the fire with the dog, wearing the disheveled wig that’s become her trademark as things got worse.  The actress’ parents are now caring for the little Pomeranian.

Bynes parents are also expected to ask a court to extend the 5150 and place the 27-year old in a conservatorship, because they believe she is exhibiting signs of schizophrenia and is unable to care for herself and could be a danger to others.

Bynes behavior has grown more and more erratic over the past year with numerous scrapes with police, substance abuse, and a series of inexplicable, random tweets.

Bynes was named one of Teen People's “25 Hottest Stars Under 25” in 2006, but that appears to be all over now.  She was the star of TV’s “What I Like About You” and “The Amanda Show”, and had roles in the movies “Easy A”, “Hairspray”, and others.
