The EU is now calling for changes to a deal that angered an entire island;  Australia and the U.S. close in on an alternative energy deal;  and the Cat that launched a thousand memes is cashing in.

Italy now openly accuses India of a clear violation of international law for refusing to allow Italy’s Ambassador to India to leave the subcontinent. The ruling came in response to Rome's refusal to return two marines charged with murdering two Indian fishermen during a failed anti-piracy raid.  India’s supreme court claims the ambassador has no immunity, the internationally-accept Vienna Convention holds differently.

Eurozone Finance Ministers are now calling for changes to a €10 Billion bailout deal that would have had savers in Cyprus give up 6 to 10 percent of their savings in a one time levy.  The plan enraged Cypriots who began mass withdrawals, cleaning out ATMs and forcing banks to close until Thursday.  Russian President Vladimir Putin also weighed in against the deal, because of the large number of Russians who bank in Cyprus.

Two suicide bombers failed in their attempt to storm a judicial complex in Peshawar, Pakistan and free prisoners.  Instead, one blew himself up outside the compound, the other made it inside and took some hostages before being killed by police.  At least 4 people are killed in the violence.

Australia is getting close to a deal with the United States to share technology on clean and renewable energy.  Foreign Minister Bob Carr met with his American counterpart John Kerry in Washington.  Carr also endorsed the U.S. plan to beef up its western anti-missile defenses after weeks of North Korea’s nuclear belligerence.

At least 13 people are dead in mudslides in the town of Petropolis, north of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  Heavy rains caused a river to burst through its banks and into the town.
