A mass stabbing at a college campus, guns fall into the hands of little kids with tragically unnecessary results, and a teen planning her future trusts the wrong authority figure.  This place freaks me out sometimes.

One suspect is under arrest for allegedly stabbing 14 people at a community college in Texas.  It happened before the Noon Hour at Lone Star College outside Houston.  The suspect reportedly used a box cutter and slashed at fellow students at the campus’ Health Science center before he was tackled and arrested.  Twelve people were taken to the hospital, two people are in critical condition, and the remaining two refused treatment.

A .22 caliber rifle in the hands of a 4-year-old shattered the Quiet of Toms River, New Jersey Monday night, when he accidentally shot a 6-year-old playmate in the head.  The boy’s parents were outside talking with neighbors, when the kid picked up his dad’s loaded weapon and carried it outside when it went off.  The 6 year old boy passed away in hospital.

This happened a day after ANOTHER 4-year-old got hold of a gun with disastrous results, this time in Tennessee.  A Wilson County Deputy left his loaded handgun on his bed.  His little nephew found it, picked it up, and accidentally shot the deputy’s wife in the head, killing her.  State police are investigating.

A man walked into a medical office building in Detroit, Michigan and began shooting.   The he set a fire that gutted the building.  Cops say two people including a woman who worked in the doctors’ offices are unaccounted for.  The building contains several practices, as well as a collection of Boxing Memorabilia belonging to a podiatrist who is also a state boxing commissioner.

A 31-year old Army recruiting Staff Sergeant is suspected of murdering a 17-year old girl he recruited into the Reserves before turning the gun on himself.  Her dad says high school student Michelle Miller was going to use her Military Reserve salary to pay for college.  But she was “smitten” with her recruiter Sgt. Adam Arndt.  Their bodies were found in his home.

And that’s just east of the Mississippi.
