A British expat living in Spain has broken – nay, crushed – that country’s record for biggest naturally baby ever.  Little (?) Maria Lorena weighs in at 6.2 kilos, or 13 pounds 11 ounces.

“I did not even need an epidural,” said proud 40-year old mum Maxime Marin, who lives in Spain with her Colombian partner and their three other children.  She says she knew that the baby would be big, but “not that big”.

Might be something going on with Brits;  Five months ago, George King became the UK's second biggest baby born naturally, tipping the scales at a mighty 7 kilos, or 15 pounds 7 ounces.

In Spain, doctors and mums usually consider a C-Section when the baby weighs more than four kilos, but it was not necessary in this case.

Maxime and gigantic little Maria Lorena are in god health, although the hospital pediatrics unit is watching the kid’s blood sugar levels.
