Ohio prosecutors are considering additional charges against Ariel Castro, the man accused of holding three women captive for a decade in his Cleveland home.  And the new charges could bring the death penalty.

Just after the 52-year old Castro was arraigned on rape and kidnapping charges, Cuyahoga County prosecutor Timothy McGinty said he would seek new charges that Castro physically and sexually abused his victims and forced them to have miscarriages.

“The law of Ohio calls for the death penalty for those most depraved criminals who commit aggravated murder during the course of a kidnapping,” McGinty told reporters.

Castro was arrested Monday after 27-year old Amanda Berry escaped the room she had been locked in, broke through a screen door, and attracted the help of neighbors including neighbor Charles Ramsey who assisted her and her 6 year old daughter escape and call to police.  She had disappeared when she was 17-years old and had not been seen until this week.

When police arrived, they found Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight imprisoned in Castro’s house, with rooms equipped with multiple locks, ropes, and chains.

Castro was tracked to a nearby McDonald’s and arrested.  He is now being held on $8 Million bond.
